I just returned from an 18 day trip to Rwanda using Rwanda Eco Company and Safaris. I cannot say enough good things about the company and the country. I started planning the trip with Fred a year ago, and he was fantastic in planning the exact sort of trip we wanted. He listed to what we liked, and came back with an itinerary that suited us perfectly. We trekked, hiked, canoed, kayaked, went on safari and immersed ourselves in Rwandan culture. Our guide for the 18 days for Baptiste, and we absolutely love him. 18 days is a lot of "together" time with a guide, but Baptiste was interesting, so fun to be with, engaging, patient and kind. Plus, he appeared to know everyone in Rwanda, which was hilarious. The trip went off without a hitch. Everything went smoothly and perfectly. I was completely impressed and satisfied.
Rwanda itself is a spectacular and special country. The landscape is beyond incredible, it is spotlessly clean, it is safe and the people are a true delight. We have traveled all over the world, but there is no other country that has it all like Rwanda does. Truly, that country and its people have changed me forever. I hate the phrase "once in a lifetime trip", but it is really the only phrase you can use about Rwanda. If you want to go, do yourself a favor and use Rwanda Eco- Company and Safaris. You will definitely not be disappointed.

Reginal at Rwanda Eco Company
Reginal at Rwanda Eco Company and Safaris handled all the plans for our trip to see the gorillas. If i go again, I won't bother to shop, i'll just go straight the Reginal. We had a private car and driver, which I would highly recommend. Its not a lot more and its much nicer to go at your own pace. Don't even think of driving yourself. The traffic in Kigali is insane. The roads are not marked. you would have a hard time even getting out town. And, the last mile of the drive to the start of the hike is seriously 4 wheel drive.
We asked for 3 star accommodations to save money. He make good choices for lodging, but I think there are more upscale accommodations for not a lot more.
Be sure to stop at some of the local markets along the way. Its a nice part of the trip. our driver , Cipriano, was on the ball. He made sure everything worked out. Lots of information about the local markets.

Our trip was once in a lifetime
After inquiring with a few companies about trekking with gorillas we chose Rwanda Eco Company and Safaris because of the fast and professional responses we got from Fred. Fred went out of his way to make sure that our tour to Bwindi National Park in Uganda was exactly what we wanted - despite some difficulty in getting permits due to it being only a few weeks away and peak period! We were met at the airport by both Fred and Eric who were both extremely welcoming and friendly. Eric was our driver and tour guide and he was awesome, very knowledgeable about Rwanda, a great driver and great friendly company! On the day of our gorilla trek he organised for us to trek to a group that were slightly closer as in the afternoon we were due to drive back to Kigali. Our trip was once in a lifetime. We definitely recommend Rwanda Eco Company and Safaris to our friends and family and anyone else wanting to do similar things (their prices are competitive too)!
